There isn’t one therapy approach that works for everyone
I’ve spent more than three decades working with adults, youth, children and families facing difficult and sometimes complicated circumstances. Over that time, I’ve learned something important:
Good therapy starts with understanding the person—not simply the problem. My approach is collaborative, practical and compassionate. I draw from a range of evidence-informed approaches, and adapt our work to what makes sense for you. Most importantly, you don’t have to impress me. You can simply bring the parts of yourself that you’re struggling with, the things you’re embarrassed about, the thoughts you don’t understand and the patterns you wish you could change. We’ll start there.
A different kind of therapy experience
You don’t need to have the answers.
You don’t need to know which diagnosis you have or which therapy approach you need. That’s part of what we’ll figure out together.
You won’t be judged.
Therapy should be a place where you can be honest about what’s really happening.
We’ll make therapy practical.
Understanding yourself is important. So is knowing what to actually do differently when you walk back into your everyday life.
We’ll work together.
I won’t tell you how you should live your life. We’ll explore what matters to you and work toward changes that fit your goals and values.
What happens when you reach out?
Starting therapy can feel surprisingly difficult.
You may wonder:
What do I say?
Will this therapist understand me?
What if I don’t know what I need?
What happens in the first session?
Here’s what you can expect.
1. Start with a free 15-minute consultation
We’ll briefly talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for and whether I might be a good fit. There is no obligation to continue.
2. Your first session
We’ll slow things down and get a better understanding of what’s happening in your life, what you’ve been experiencing and what you’d like to be different.
3. We’ll develop a direction together
Rather than putting you into a predetermined program, we’ll decide together what would be most useful.
4. We’ll work toward meaningful change
Therapy isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply, becoming less controlled by old patterns and having more freedom to choose how you want to live.
